Islamic Endowments: 4 million worshippers visited Al-Aqsa in Ramadan

More than four million Palestinian worshippers visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Al-Quds during the holy month of Ramadan despite the Israeli restrictions imposed on them.

The Director General of the Islamic Endowments Department in Occupied Al-Quds, Azzam Al-Khatib, said on Thursday that this number is unprecedented compared to previous years.

During Ramadan, Palestinian citizens from the West Bank aged between 12 and 55 years old were denied access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Only few hundreds from the Gaza Strip were allowed to reach the Mosque.

Meanwhile, more than 3,000 Jewish settlers, protected by Israeli police, broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Passover in the same period.

To facilitate the raids, the Israeli police assaulted Muslim worshippers and arrested more than 450 citizens while forcing the rest to leave the Mosque.
