Without Islamic Revolution of Iran
equations in Palestine & region became ten times worse

Rodney Shakespear

British political analyst: In a region of brutal, feudal, autocratic regimes, Iran was (and is) giving a democratic lead.

Qodsna (Tehran) - Speaking to Qods News Agency on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, British political analyst, Prof. Rodney Shakespeare talked about the major effects of Iranian revolution especially on the Palestinian issue.

Pointing the fact that many experts in the Palestinian issue argue that the Islamic Revolution changed the direction of the fight against Israel, Shakespear said: The 1979 Revolution was (and is) national, political and cultural.  However, crucially, it was also Islamic giving a religious perspective which is longer than that of any one human life and which continues over the future generations.

Thus, at the core of the Resistance movements is religion which explains why they are strong and will not be defeated, he added.

Answering the question that why did the leaders of the Zionist regime like Yitzhak Rabin compare the victory of the Islamic Revolution to a great earthquake for Israel?, Shakespear said: The Islamic Revolution was (and is) national, cultural and religious.  However, crucially, it was also political.  In a region of brutal, feudal, autocratic regimes, Iran was (and is) giving a democratic lead.  Zionist Israel is based upon the suppression of legitimate democratic expression and people like Rabin knew (and know) the truth but they intend suppressing democracy by a mixture of brutality and extreme discrimination.

He also talks about the changes Iran's continued support for Palestine has brought in the conflict equation with Israel, adding: Very importantly, Iran’s support is that of a powerful country in the region.  The support combines with a sense of religious duty and changes in demography (i.e., birth rates) to give hope of eventual success.

Pointing to the signs of Zionist regime’s collapse, the British political analyst said: Israel is increasingly reliant on force to suppress democracy while, at the same time, also being a colonial outpost of the USA (which is patently losing its previous world economic, political and moral leadership.)

Answering the question that If the Islamic revolution of Iran had not happened, how would be the equations in Palestine, the region and the international sphere? Shakespear said: Ten times worse than they are now.
