EU’s sanctions against IRGC to strengthen Iran's capabilities and increase its resistance

Sanctioning the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC-affiliated entities and individuals is a combined war that not only has no legal basis, but will also have a negative effect on the enemy's perception and will strengthen the capacities and resistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Tehran (qodsna)- The European Parliament on January 19 passed a resolution that calls on the European Union to put the IRGC on its terror list and expand its sanctions list to all foundations linked to the Iranian military organization.

Regarding the action of the European Union against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Mohammad Mehdi Jahan Parvar, a writer and researcher of political and security issues in an interview with qodsna considered one of the goals of this action to create a polarization in the country's military structure.

One of the biggest problems of such a view is the polarization of the armed forces into the army and the IRGC, regardless of the enmity and malice of the opponents, intentionally or unintentionally, he said.

"History has shown that every society needs to defend and protect its land against aggressors in order to preserve and survive”, he said, adding “Without military forces and a powerful army, the identity, security, independence, etc. will be meaningless”.
