Israeli court okays destruction of Palestinian school in Yatta

An Israeli court rejected on Wednesday a Palestinian petition to halt the demolition of the Khashem al-Karm Elementary School in al-Badia al-Badawiya area, east of Yatta in southern al-Khalil.

According to head of the Masafer Yatta council Nidhal Yunis, an Israeli court revoked a previous injunction issued against the demolition of the school and gave the Israeli occupation army 10 days to destroy it.

Yunis said that the school had been built with funding from the European Union in 2022 through Action Against Hunger foundation.

About 50 child students from different Bedouin communities in the area go to this school, he added.

In a separate incident, the Israeli occupation forces, (IOF) demolished on Wednesday a well in the western area of Kafr Laqif village, east of Qalqilya.

Local official Muayad Assaf said that the IOF stormed al-Gharaba area of the village and filled a water well under construction with concrete without prior warning.

Assaf pointed out that the well belonged to the village council and it was supposed to serve about 1,200 local farmers, who will incur considerable financial losses as a result of the Israeli measure.

Meanwhile, the IOF notified on the same day local residents in Ras al-Ahmar area in Tubas of a military decision ordering a halt to the construction of residential structure and livestock shelters at the pretext of unlicensed construction.
