Hamas, Jihad condemn Israeli decision to hold Abu Hamid's body

Hamas and Jihad movements considered the Zionist regime’s decision not to hand over the body of the martyr, Nasser Abu Hamid, as a political move aimed to pressure and blackmail Palestinians.

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stressed that the Zionist regime’s decision is a flagrant violation of international laws and norms and all human rights standards.

The Israeli occupation is reinforcing its criminality by killing Abu Hamid after years of deliberate medical negligence and not releasing his body, he said.

For his part, Jihad Movement spokesman Tariq Selmi considered the decision of the Israeli Army Minister Benny Gantz not to hand over the body of Abu Hamid as a further crime in his ugly criminal record aimed to punish Abu Hamid even after his death.

The decision reflect Israel's racist nature and its attack on all human and moral values, taking advantage of the United Nations, international organizations and the international community's double standard policy.

Cancer-stricken Nasser Abu Hamid, 50, was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning after battling cancer for long months in Israeli detention.

Last year, the prisoner suffered from a serious health problem in his lungs, but the Zionist regime’s prison service delayed his transfer to the hospital and neglected his suffering for long months before deciding to take him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with cancer.

A general strike was declared and processions were held across the West Bank in mourning for Abu Hamid's death.
