SDPN deputy Secy Gen.:

Qatar World Cup, an important indicator of the popularity of Palestine among nations

The 2022 World Cup in Doha became an opportunity to highlight the issue of Palestine in one of the most important international events in the world and make the world aware of the crimes of the Zionist regime.

Tehran (Qodsna)-The FIFA World Cup in Qatar witnessed many sidelines. The support of the spectators of different countries from Palestine and the boycott of the media of the Zionist regime, perhaps considered as the most important sideline of this cup.

Regarding the difference between the current World Cup with its previous tournaments, the deputy secretary general of the Iran-based Society In Defense Of Palestinian Nation (SDPN), Mohammad Shahedi told qodsna that Zionist regime, which was created based on the massacre and displacement of the Palestinian nation, due to the spread of media influence In public opinion, postpones many of its crimes against the Palestinians and other regional nations to opportunities such as major sports events including the Olympics and the World Cup.

Pointing to the some of the crimes and warmongering of the Zionist regime in different periods of the World Cup, Shahedi said: Simultaneous with holding 1982 World Cup in Spain, the Sabra and Shatila camps were destroyed by the Zionist regime in cooperation with the Christian fringes of Lebanon. During the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the Zionist regime attacked Lebanon and the 33-day Lebanon War began. In the midst of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the 51-day war in Gaza began, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of innocent and oppressed people, including Palestinian children, women, and the elderly people.

This year, the World Cup in Qatar was different. During holding the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a different story took place for Palestine. War did not start, but during the games, extensive developments are taking place in favor of the resistance front in various cities of the West Bank against the Zionist regime, Shahedi noted.

The streets of Qatar were decorated with the Palestinian flags. Arab football fans refused to speak or give interviews to the Zionist media, giving full support to the Palestinians, he added.
