Dozens of Palestinian families in Silwan at risk of eviction
Dozens of Palestinian families are threatened to be displaced from their homes in Silwan town south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Al-Quds in favor of the Zionist organization Ateret Cohanim.
“Five Palestinian families comprising 35 members are at risk of being expelled,” the Israeli left-wing association Ir Amim underlined, adding that Ateret Cohanim claims that the Palestinian homes were established on lands owned by Jews before 1948.
Ir Amim association condemned the racist Israeli policy that impedes Al-Quds families from returning to their houses evicted in 1948 while it allows the forcible expulsion of the Palestinians from their homes in the Silwan and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhoods.
The association stressed that the Ateret Cohanim which is leading the eviction of Palestinian families from Silwan was not established before 1948, adding that such an Israeli policy is aimed at Judaizing Palestinian neighborhoods after forcing Palestinian families to evict their houses around the Old City of Jerusalem.
Earlier on Sunday, an Israeli court in Occupied Jerusalem rejected a petition submitted by the Palestinian family of Shehadeh against the Israeli decision that forces them to evict their homes in Batan al-Hawa in Eastern Al-Quds.
80 Al-Quds families nearby the Shehadeh families are threatened with forcible expulsion. 17 families have been already displaced from their homes in Silwan.
