Resistance the strategic option
of the Palestinians against occupiers

Gaza (Qodsna)- The struggle and confrontation of the Palestinians with the Zionist occupiers has taken various forms, from popular resistance to armed resistance in the history. In the recent period, the armed resistance has been leading the way.

Military confrontations between the Zionist troops and Palestinian resistance youth groups in the occupied West Bank have become a daily occurrence since the beginning of this year.

The occupied West Bank has seen a significant increase in Palestinian resistance operations in its various forms, so that last September, the West Bank witnessed 833 resistance operations including throwing stones, stabbing or trying to run over with a car, shooting and planting and throwing homemade bombs which led to the death of a Zionist officer and the wounding of 49 other Israelis.

Zionist regime’s forces carrying out military operations against the "Lion's Den" (Areen Al-Osood) group. The Lion's Den is a fast-growing West Bank resistance movement compromised of a youthful generation. Its slogan is clear: al-Quds is the red line.

Qodsna correspondent in the Gaza strip has interviewed with some Palestinian experts and analysts about the future of armed resistance against Zionist regime and the will of Palestinian youths.

Saeed Basharat, an expert on the Zionist regime’s affairs, told qodsna that "The occupiers consider groups like Lion's Den as a great concern. These groups have emerged with power and we are witnessing a generation that the occupiers or Palestinian Authority are not able to ignore or control it.

The armed groups in the West Bank are different in terms of generation and see themselves as resistant and are at the forefront of events, and for this reason, the occupiers are afraid of them, he added.

These groups have tried to draw a path to tell the occupiers and Palestinian Authority that their repression has had no benefit or result, Basharat noted.

The occupiers look at the progress of the resistance activity in the West Bank with their security and weapons, which has forced them to carry out special operations to pursue their wanted persons through assassination and arrest, as well as containment through self-governing organizations.

The different characteristics of the current state of resistance in the West Bank

Samer Anbtawi, Palestinian writer and analyst, told qodsna that the reasons and factors for the increase in resistance in the West Bank are related to two basic issues: First, there is no national vision and all the compromise efforts and agreements have failed.

The second reason is the policies of the occupiers in the daily invasion on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the attacks of the Zionist settlers on the citizens and their agricultural lands and the brutality of the Zionist military in their attacks and killing of young people at the checkpoints, he added.

He pointed out that the occupiers have so far failed to deal with this state of Intifada, which is different from the previous Intifadas, and they are thinking of three options.

They are thinking of three options in which the first option is an all-out attack, but the cost is very heavy so, such an option is unlikely. Their second option is an assassination operation. This option has also failed due to the vigilance of the resistant forces. The third option is to encircle and besiege the people in order to weak the popular support of the resistance and to threaten all the Palestinian areas, he added.

The emergence of new resistance groups

Another political analyst and expert on the Zionist regime’s affairs, "Momen Moqdad" told Qodsna that several factors have led to the spread of resistance in the West Bank, the most important of which is the weakness of the Palestinian Authority due to differences among its leaders.

Another issue is the intensification of the scope of the confrontation with the occupiers at the same time as the increase of settlements, which adds to the lack of trust of the Palestinian community in any political solution, especially after the visit of the American President Joe Biden, which did not yield any results, he noted.

The growing trend of resistance in the West Bank

"Hatem Al-Aila", another Palestinian analyst, told Qodsna reporter that the popular confrontations and armed resistance operations in the West Bank since the Battle of Al-Quds Sword (between the Palestinian resistance in Gaza and the Zionist occupation in May 2021) have not stopped and the spirit of Palestinian resistance has multiplied and this problem has become a strategic dilemma for the security and military commanders of the Zionists in how to deal with various and different methods of resistance.

There is not a single day that a conflict between the Palestinian fighters and the Zionist troops or the settlers takes place in the occupied West Bank. That is why all the scenarios in the West Bank are considered, especially that the expansion of the aggression of the army and the Zionist settlers against the Palestinians will intensify the wave of resistance, Al-Aila added.

He pointed out that the West Bank has undoubtedly witnessed a qualitative increase in resistance actions and operations and a qualitative transformation from stones and stabbing operations and running over with cars to armed operations due to the failure of the Zionists' deterrence strategies, and as a result, the scope of Palestinian resistance has increased.

Also, the expansion of settlements and the aggression of the occupiers in Al-Quds have led to more young people joining the Palestinian resistance, which means that the future of the resistance in the West Bank is moving towards intensifying operations against the occupiers, and we are gradually witnessing the expansion of the wave of resistance operations in the West Bank.

For this reason, all the scenarios are discussed in the West Bank, especially that the expansion of the aggression of the Zionist army and settlers against the Palestinians causes the wave of resistance to intensify.
