Iran calls for Ukraine evidence on use of Iranian drones in war

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic has asked the Ukrainian authorities to offer evidence for the use of Iranian drones by Russia in the Ukraine war, if they have any.

Amirabdollahian was speaking with Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman on the phone.

The top Iranian diplomat reiterated his country’s stance that it is opposed to the Ukraine conflict and sending weapons to warring sides there.

He said that Iran and Russia have been engaged in defense cooperation for years now. But, he added that Iran has not supported the war against Ukraine and has not provided Russia with weapons to be used in the war in that country.

The two foreign ministers also discussed bilateral ties, as well as the recent sanctions by the European Union against the Islamic Republic over its response to the latest riots in Iran.

Amirabdollahian called the EU measure wrong which was taken based on a collection of misinformation.

The Croatian foreign minister said that he would inform his EU colleagues of Iran’s stances over the mentioned issues.

The phone call by the top Iranian and Croatian diplomats come as Kiev and its Western allies have accused Iran of providing suicide drones to Russia to be used in the Ukraine war.

Both Iran and Russia have strongly rejected the allegations.

On Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Tehran is ready to talk to Kiev to resolve the issue.
