Hamas deputy chief: Israeli occupation works to divide Al-Aqsa

Deputy Head of the Hamas Political Bureau Saleh Al-Arouri said on Thursday that the Israeli occupation is working hard to change the status quo in the Al-Aqsa Mosque through the spatial and temporal division schemes.

In a televised speech, the Hamas official added that all Muslims across the globe, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League should assume the duty of defending the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He stressed that all factions, movements, scholars, intellectuals, media professionals, and writers could spread awareness among the Arab and Islamic nations and pressure official institutions to assume responsibility towards the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Regarding the Palestinian reconciliation meetings in Algeria, Al-Arouri reiterated that Hamas spares no effort to achieve it and end the Palestinian division. He also expressed Hamas’s appreciation for Algeria's role in confronting normalization with Israel and supporting the Palestinian people and their just cause.

Speaking about the Movement’s relations with Russia, the deputy chief pointed out that Hamas has a long-term relationship with Moscow, recalling that Russia considers Hamas a national liberation movement.

He went on to say that Hamas needs to foster relations with all international parties who stand against the Israeli occupation and its American ally.
