Israeli occupation detained 607 Palestinians in August

The Zionist regime’s occupation authorities have abducted 607 Palestinians, including 59 children and 13 women, over the past month, according to Palestinian prisoners' rights organisations.

In a joint report, the NGOs explained that Al-Quds witnessed the highest number of arrests by Israeli occupation forces, followed by Al-Khalil, Bethlehem, and Jenin.

Last month saw a dramatic surge in violations and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, including extrajudicial executions, collective punishment, and systematic detention campaigns, which entailed grave rights abuses against the detainees and their families.

The advocacy groups documented human rights violations against the Palestinian detainees during and after their arrest by the Israeli occupation army.

As of August 2022, there were 4,650 Palestinians, including 32 female captives and around 180 minors, held in Israeli occupation prisons.

Among them, 743 Palestinians are held by the Israeli occupation under administrative detention, without charge or trial.

In August, Israeli occupation forces detained 148 Palestinians, including 30 children and seven women, from Al-Quds, 118 from Al-Khalil, and 96 from Bethlehem.

Over the past month, the Israeli occupation authorities have issued 272 administrative detention orders against Palestinians, 143 of which were made for the first time while the remaining ones were renewed.
