Palestinian resistance
borne of Islamic Jihad

Expert meeting

Tehran (Qodsna) – An expert meeting on the recent developments of West Bank held on Wednesday in Tehran.

The expert meeting dubbed “The latest developments of West Bank with special focus on Jenin as a center of resistance” held on Wednesday at the conference hall of Iran-based Society to Defend the Palestinian Nation (SDPN).

Nasser Abu Sharif, representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement in Tehran and different pro-Palestinian figures and political experts in Iran, including Hossein Royvaran, political deputy of the SDPN; Seyed Reza Sadr al-Hosseini, senior expert on West Asia, and Alireza Arab, senior expert on West Asia, explain the developments in the West Bank and the role of Jenin in the expansion of armed operations in this region.

Representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement in Tehran said that most of the recent anti-Zionist armed operations have been carried out by young people who were born after the infamous Oslo Accords.

They were attracted to Islamic Jihad because they see resistance as the only option to get rid of the occupation of their motherland and made it their priority, Abu Sharif added.

What has been particularly effective in increasing the anti-Zionist uprising in the West Bank in the last two years should be evaluated in the developments of Sheikh Jarrah and the battle of Saif al-Quds, he added.

A fundamental change has taken place in the field of resistance in the West Bank, which means that the same number of operations that Islamic Jihad used to carry out against the Zionist invaders within a year is now being carried out in just one month, which is considered a serious development and shows the speed and increase in the volume of the resistance operations, Islamic Jihad envoy noted.

The resistance of young members of the Islamic Jihad movement in the prisons of the Zionist regime is also expanding. Last Thursday, Zionists regime was supposed to impose tougher conditions on the Palestinian prisoners, but 1,200 prisoners of Islamic Jihad decided to go on a hunger strike, which forced the Zionist regime to accept all the conditions of the prisoners, Abu Sharif added,

This is a great success and shows the resistance is expanding in various instrumental, geographical and qualitative areas, he noted.
