Over 20 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists

WAFA news agency documents 21 Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists, including shootings, arrests, ban from travel.

The Israeli occupation authorities committed 21 violations against Palestinian journalists in July, including shootings, arrests and a ban from travel, today said the official WAFA news agency.

 

It said in its monthly report on Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists in the occupied territories that it documented 21 violations, including shooting at journalists while covering events in the West Bank, mainly settlers’ violence against Palestinians, and the arrest and detention of several journalists, including one, Mohammad Assida, 39, married with five children, from Nablus who has been held in administrative detention for four consecutive four-month terms.

 

It said that in several incidents, the Israeli army prevented TV crews from carrying out their work and held them for several hours, while in one incident, the soldiers fired tear gas at a Palestine TV crew while covering an anti-settlements activity in Beit Dajan, near Nablus, and in other incidents, the journalist, Ibrahim Atta, was shot in the leg by a rubber bullet while covering an army raid of Deir Abu Mishal village, west of Ramallah, and photojournalist Abdul Majeed Udwan was hit by a rubber bullet while covering a protest in Kufr Qaddoum, east of Qalqilya.

 

The Israeli authorities also banned two journalists, Majdoleen Hassouneh, who works for the Turkish TRT channel, and Mujahed Saadi, from traveling to Jordan.
