Arab countries suffer
from lack of military coordination during Six-Day war

Lebanese military strategist

The Six-Day War, or the Third Arab-Israeli War, was started on June 5 1967, and it was between the Zionist regime and Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, and ended with the defeat of the Arab sides.

The Six-Day War began with a sudden Israeli airstrike on Egyptian air bases on June 5, 1967, and within six days Israel managed to take control of the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Desert from Egypt,  as well as it occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Israel also occupied the Golan Heights from Syria.

On June 11, a ceasefire agreement was signed at the suggestion of the Arabs with Israel, which tripled the area occupied by the Zionist regime with the defeat of the Arabs and brought about one million Arabs living in the occupied territories under its direct control.

After the war, Egypt signed the "Camp David" peace agreement with Tel Aviv and recaptured Sinai, and Israel was forced to return to previous borders.

Speaking with Qods News Agency, the retired Brigadier General “Amin Hatit”, a Lebanese strategist and military and strategic affairs analyst talked about this matter, saying “The defeat of the Arabs against the Zionist regime occurred for three reasons: The first reason is that the weapons structure of the Arab armies and the military presence of the Arabs were not in line with the threats and capabilities of Israel at that time.”

“The second issue concerns security coordination and military field cooperation. There was no military coordination between the Arab countries,” he added.

The lebanese expert went on to say that “the third issue, which is very important, is the element of surprise that Israel took full advantage of, which surprised the Egyptian army in the early morning houres of June 1967, shot down its planes on the runways, and deprived the Egyptian army of any air response.”

Amin Hatit also highlighted that the United States helped Israel during the six-day war in sharing information, advanced military aids and operation management.
