Hamas slams Israeli court ruling to cap number of Christians at Al-Quds' church
We condemn the Israeli occupation supreme court's ruling to limit the number of Christians allowed to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre for the Easter Fire ceremony on Saturday to only 4,000.
This historical precedent to allow Israeli occupation courts to directly intervene in managing religious affairs for the Palestinian people reflects the racist nature of the Israeli occupation and refutes its allegations regarding the freedom of worship for everyone, Basem Naim , head of Hamas' Political and Foreign Relations in Gaza said.
It also discloses the truth behind Israeli schemes to completely take over the holy city in a blatant violation of international law and resolutions, Naim added.
"We stress that the Palestinian people have the right and willpower to defend their Muslim and Christian sacred sites. No Israeli schemes will deter our people from doing so at any cost".
On this occasion, we extend our congratulations to all Palestinian Christians on the advent of this religious holiday, Hamas official noted.
