Quds Day brings unity between
Sunni and Shia in fight against Israel

Eric Walberg

Tehran (Qodsna) - On the eve of the International Quds Day, Qods News Agency intends to use the expert opinions of personalities and political analysts to better explain one of the most important initiatives of the great founder of the Islamic Revolution, an issue whose importance is increasingly understood every year.

In an exclusive interview with Eric Walberg, a Canadian writer and political expert, he talked about the importance of the International Quds Day, saying that “International Quds Day definitely has had an impact on changing the conditions of the equation in Palestine. Its importance is starkly demonstrated by the ongoing US-Israeli plans to take over all of Palestine.”

“No matter what evils Israel commits, Quds Day is a constant witness to them and is supported by true defenders of the Palestinians. It is the clearest sign of unity between Sunni and Shia, something that is essential for Islam to prevail,” he stressed.

Talking about the current status of the Zionist regime and its crimes against Palestinians, Walberg also confirmed that the recent attacks against Palestinians in the holy city of al-Quds (Jerusalem) were ignored by the Western governments.

“The recent invasion of al-Aqsa mosque during morning prayers, terrorizing, beating worshippers during Ramadan, and wounding more than 150 went almost unnoticed in the West. The goal is to make Jerusalem (al-Quds, holy city) the sole property of Israel, destroy the Muslim sacred Dome of the Rock, and to work to undermine Islam by widespread aggression against all things Muslim, not only in Palestine but from Libya to Afghanistan,” he said.

The Canadian writer then talked about the reasons for the increase in anti-Israeli operations in the West Bank, noting that “Palestinians daily protest the theft of their lands, the destruction of their olive trees, the harassment by settlers, all intended to drive the Palestinians away, to make life so excruciating.”

“There can be no let-up in this struggle, as the Palestinians are defending their homes. They are not Americans or Europeans who come to Israel for an adventure or to create for them a mythical homeland. The Palestinians want them to leave, to go back to their homes and leave the Palestinians in peace,” he added.

Walberg also called the collapse of Israel “a welcome stimulus to peace around the world.”

He went on to say that “I personally cheer every step in that direction. Things are improving. The term apartheid is no longer just used by those activists who are campaigning for human rights but is accepted by many mainstream organizations, and the UN. Attempts to investigate Israeli war crimes moved tentatively ahead but there is no chance of actually bring Israel to justice. Still, the UN and ICC's call against Israeli apartheid is powerful mobilizing tools. Many Israelis accept the term as well, though many of them are happy to be called racists.”

“Shamefully, Arab countries sell out to the Zionist apartheid regime in return for acceptance from the US. We need to make clear that these governments do not represent the Muslim Ummah, that we have not forgotten our Palestinian sisters and brothers, and that we will never accept or normalize apartheid. This is even more relevant now, as British foreign secretary Priti Patel has just met with the Zionist Apartheid Regimes Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked, who has called for the killing of “all Palestinians”.

We must not sit back and wait for the revolution. We need to move forward, to take inspiration from Quds Day, and work together, Muslims and nonMuslims, to bring US-Israel to account,” Eric Walberg said.
