Commemoration ceremony of 40 years of diplomatic, media activities of former Palestinian ambassador to Iran

I have been in Iran for 42 years and I have always spoken based on the facts I believed in. Imam Khomeini left a heavy burden on people and you must have self-sacrifice to achieve the ultimate goals, Salah al-Zawawi said during the ceremony.

Tehran (Qodsna) - The ceremony commemorating the 40 years of diplomatic and media activities of Salah al-Zawawi, the former Palestinian ambassador to Iran, was held on Monday morning in the Sheikh Rahnama Hall of the Tehran-based Society for the Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN).

Salah al-Zawawi was the Palestinian ambassador to Iran for four decades and was recently replaced by a new ambassador.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mehdi Shakibaei, Deputy Secretary-General of the SDPN highlighted that al-Zawawi has activities dating back to the victory of the Islamic Revolution because. One of his main characteristics is that he is a revolutionary spirit. He has always considered himself a disciple of Imam Khomeini and has taken steps to support the revolution.

Nasser Abu Sharif, a representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, said: "Salah al-Zawawi was not a colleague or compatriot for us, but he was considered a bigger brother and even a father. Salah al-Zawawi was one of the first figures who paved the path of jihad and resistance, and he continues to do so, and we hope that his struggle will be accompanied by a final victory and the liberation of the Palestinian land.”

Salah al-Zawawi, who is the oldest foreign ambassador in Iran, gave a speech in the ceremony, expressing his gratitude to the organizers of the event.

“I would like to thank and appreciate all those who have gathered in this ceremony to honor me, and I am very happy about this event. I formed a group of fighters, some of whom were martyred. And when I joined the Fatah movement, we swore to fight for the liberation of every inch of Palestinian territory. I hope one day we will see this victory,” Al-Zawawi said.

Talking about the personality of Imam Khomeini, the former Palestinian ambassador to Iran underlined: “In the time of the Shah, Iran may have been militarily powerful, but it received orders from the US Embassy and the Zionist regime. But this devout ascetic, Imam Khomeini, came and founded the Islamic Revolution. With the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini actually caused an international explosion the size of a nuclear bomb that the enemies could not bear.”

“I have been in Iran for 42 years and I have always spoken based on the facts I believed in. Imam Khomeini left a heavy burden on people and you must have self-sacrifice to achieve the ultimate goals. Imam Khamenei, who took over the leadership of the Revolution after the great founder of the Islamic Revolution, was a young man who grew up in the heart of this revolution and was able to make it more powerful.

He went on to say, stressing that “the Western goal is to plant the Zionist regime in the heart of the region, not even to serve the Jews, but they want to use the occupied territories as a safe haven for their conspiracies against the Middle East.”
