Iran does not pursue any
strategic expectations in Vienna talks

Qodsna Editorial Board

Tehran (Qodsna) - Iran does not expect a significant outcome from the Vienna talks, and in the background of his presence in the talks, Iran pursues petty goals, the achievement or non-achievement of which does not make much difference.

Iran's nuclear talks with the P4 + 1 were resumed on Monday after a long hiatus. Given the type of requests that the negotiating parties have from Iran, it seems that these negotiations have lost their nuclear nature!

It seems that the European governments and the United States are more willing to focus on issues such as Iran’s missile capability, drone capability, space capability, and Iran's regional role-playing instead of reviving the nuclear deal, which is about to its last breaths because of the US withdrawing from it and then moving in a direction that is completely inconsistent with its UN Security Council commitments.

This issue has faced a strong reaction from the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this regard, Ali Bagheri Kani, the head of the Iranian negotiating team, emphasized that as long as sanctions against Iran are in place, it will not be possible to revive the nuclear deal known as JCPOA.

After the new government came to power in Iran, it was natural that the new government needed an opportunity to form a new working group, and given that the United States and European governments were still diversifying sanctions and quantifying them. As a result, the nuclear talks had practically lost their priority in the macro-policies of Iran - especially since Iran, with its strategy of resistance economy, had been able to turn the threat of sanctions into a great opportunity for economic independence - so it officially declared that Iran will resume talks on reviving the nuclear deal in Vienna whenever domestic and international conditions were ready.

However, the United States and European governments, which are mainly blamed for the stalemate, have accused Iran of stalling in the Vienna talks and have consistently pretended that they are seeking to resolve the nuclear deal crisis.

Finally, Iran appointed a negotiating working group to resume the talks in Vienna. But, as expected, a series of media waves blame Iran for the failure of the talks. The joint statement of Britain and the Zionist regime against Iran on the eve of the talks, the numerous visits of Robert Malley, the person in charge of Iran affairs in the US government, and announcing new sanctions, can be evaluated in the same framework.

While all parties (indirectly) are talking in Vienna, Robert Malley officially declares that the United States has no will to lift any sanctions on Iran! US President Joe Biden also officially emphasized the impossibility of lifting US sanctions against Iran! About sixteen U.S. senators also recommended the White House in a joint statement; the sanctions regime against Iran should be maintained. They warned that if an agreement is reached with Iran in this regard, the next Republican administration will tear it down!

In the previous round of talks, Iran announced that its goal was to lift sanctions against Iran, and in the new round, Iran again stated that it doen not prefer any issue to the issue of lifting sanctions.

Experts believe that given Iran's move forward is based on the strategy of a resistant economy that has largely neutralized sanctions. Iran does not expect a significant outcome from the Vienna talks, and in the background of his presence in the talks, Iran pursues petty goals, the achievement or non-achievement of which does not make much difference.
