Expert meeting on recent British decision against Hamas held in Tehran

Qodsna (Tehran) - The expert meeting "Examining the goals of the British action in designating the Palestinian resistance as terrorist" was held on Tuesday, at the initiative of the Iran-based Society for the Defense of the Palestinian Nation.

Representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement in Iran Nasser Abu Sharif gave a speech in the meeting, saying that “the recent action of the British government was against the will of the British people and was equal with surrenderring to the Zionist lobby to use their power in political matters."

“Resistance is the legitimate right of the Palestinian people, which is enshrined in all international law. Jerusalem is an occupied area that must be protected,” he added.

Emphasizing the position of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, Abu Sharif said “we condemn this move, the British decision is not limited to Hamas, and in fact it has targeted all Palestinian resistance groups.”

“We consider this British decision a historic mistake and against the popular movement of the Palestinian people, this is a continuation of the mistakes that Britain has made against the Palestinian people.”

The Palestinian official stressed that “the Palestinian people will continue to resist the occupiers until they achieve all their goals.”

In the next part of the meeting, the representative of the Hamas movement in Iran Khalid al-Qudumi emphasized: "The recent British decision was a continuation of their colonial and arrogant process, and they have helped the occupiers of Palestine for many decades."

Referring to the atrocites commited by the Zionist regime against Palestinins, Khalid al-Qudumi added that “the Zionist regime has even deprived the Palestinian people of the right to life. The situation in the occupied territories, especially in the West Bank, is very complicated, and racial discrimination is very severe against the Palestinians. Instead of reacting against the occupation, rape, murder and assassination of the Zionist regime, Britain has come and acted against the Palestinian people.”

“Britain has always been considered as a symbol of bringing catastrophe for the Palestinian people due to the planting of the seed of the Zionist regime in this land,” he noted.

“The purpose of this decision is to put more pressure on Hamas and forcing the group to enter the reconciliation process,” al-Qudumi said.
