Position of plaintiff & accused
changed in int'l system

Mojtaba Ferdosipour

Qodsna (Tehran) - Britain's passive action against Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas proves that the position of the plaintiff and the accused has changed in the international system, former Iranian ambassador said.

UK Home Secretary Priti Patel on Friday announced that she had designated Hamas as a terrorist organization, in a move that brings Britain in line with the United States and the European Union.

Britain’s Home Department confirmed that Hamas would be banned under the Terrorism Act and anyone expressing support for it, flying its flag, or arranging meetings for the resistance movement would be in breach of the law.

In an exclusive interview with Qods News Agency, Mojtaba Ferdosipour, former Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Jordan talked about the goal of the UK government for this decision, saying that "The decision taken by the UK government labeling Hamas a terrorist organization. which coincides with the anniversary of the infamous Balfour Declaration, indicates that Britain has continued to support the Balfour Accords and the Zionist regime for more than a century, and its brutal and reprehensible stance.”

“Britain's passive action against Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement - Hamas proves that the position of the plaintiff and the accused has changed in the international system. Instead, the international system and its institutions investigating the accusations of the accused, and instead of complaining about the oppression of the Palestinian people and taking the side of the plaintiff, we, unfortunately, see that they themselves support and defend the accused, which is the Zionist regime,” he added.

“This issue has caused regimes such as the United States and Britain to confront the Palestinian people and their call for oppression, and to express sympathetic and supportive reactions to the violent action of the Zionist regime,” Ferdosipour concluded.

He also talked about Hamas’s legitimacy, stressing that “the Hamas movement is an accepted movement and has legitimacy based on the votes of the Palestinian people, and naturally has the same procedure of international legitimacy.”

“The recent British decision violated human rights, conventions, values of the international system and a legitimate movement that works for the rights of the Palestinian people.”
