Failed assassination of Iraq's PM; real attack or political shenanigan with specific goals

Tehran (Qodsna) - The incident on Sunday morning seems to be a scenario defined by a side, which is trying to manage the situation in Iraq in its favor. At the head of that side is the US government, which is concerned about the spread of civil protests against the election results.

Earlier on Sunday, the sound of gunfire and explosions were heard in the Green Zone of Baghdad. The Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced that Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi has been the target of an assassination attempt by three drones.

"Three drones attacked, and two drones were shot down, but the third drone attacked the prime minister's house,” Press advisor of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior said during a TV interview.

"Al-Kadhimi has not been injured and some of his injured bodyguards are receiving medical treatment,” he added.

Iraq’s top officials have reacted to this incident and have condemned it, and unanimously consider the aim of this action to be sedition.

Sayyed Ammar Hakim, the head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, tweeted: "The attack on the Prime Minister's house is condemned and disgusting, and it puts the situation in a critical position and the country's reputation is in danger."

In a tweet, Muqtada al-Sadr, the leader of the Sadrist Movement, also reacted to the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

He said: "The terrorist act that targeted the high official of the country is equal with targeting Iraq’s soil and its people, as well as the security of stability.

HoweverAbu Ali al-Askari, the security chief of the Hezbollah Movement in Iraq, reacted to the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, calling it a show.

Referring to the rumors about the attack on the residence of the Iraqi Prime Minister, he clarified: "Playing the role of the victim has become a tactic."

US State Department spokesman Ned Price strongly condemned the assassination attempt on Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi.

There are many questions about this incident, including what caused the attack? What are the hidden goals in this event?

At the very beginning of the incident, in a coordinated move, the special anti-resistance media in Iraq blamed the resistance groups for the incident. This was a similar story compared to the assassination of Rafik Hariri in Lebanon, who was immediately accused by Syria! This reinforces the suspicion that the attack on al-Kadhimi's home was based on a specific scenario.

That is why the Hezbollah Movement in Iraq reacted. Because the security of Iraq is indebted to the resistance, and the Iraqi resistance has paid huge expenses to bring Iraq to this stage of security, and it is natural that any action that targets the security of Iraq is in fact an attack on the achievements of the resistance.

However, the resistance has shown that it refrains from any action that challenges security.

The attack on al-Kadhimi's house came two days after a bloody Friday in Baghdad, in which scores of protesters were killed and wounded by security forces under the command of the prime minister. A fact-finding committee has been set up to identify the perpetrators of this crime, and it seems that a side is trying to suspend identifying the accused of Friday’s crimes by attacking the Prime Minister's house.

According to media reports, the attacking drones flew over the Green Zone and al-Kadhimi's house for at least three minutes before the bomb was dropped, but US air defense systems based in the Green Zone had no reaction.

The drones used by the Iraqi resistance current in its attacks against ISIS and its affiliated terrorist groups are associated with heavy destructive power. However, what can be seen in the incident of al-Kadhimi's house is very minor damage. Also, most of the UAVs of the resistance axis are not traceable before the operation, but all three UAVs attacking the Prime Minister's house were seen before the operation, and even the Prime Minister's personal protection force fired at them!

The incident on Sunday morning seems to be a scenario defined by a side, which is trying to manage the situation in Iraq in its favor. At the head of that side is the US government, which is concerned about the spread of civil protests against the election results. And it is trying to steer the developments in the direction that is desirable by creating suspicious events such as the bloody Friday of Baghdad and the assassination of Al-Kadhimi.
