We won't wait for Zionists in
the issue of prisoner exchange deal

Fawzi Barhoum

Gaza (Qodsna) - In an exclusive interview with the Qods News Agency’s reported in Gaza, Fawzi Barhoum, a member of the political bureau of the Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement, talked about the lack of progress in the process of the prisoner exchange deal with the Zionist regime, saying that "It is not surprising to see a delay from Zionists in this issue as they had such a subversive behavior in the first prisoner exchange deal, which lasted 5 years."

He further stressed that Hamas knows well in what language to talk to the Zionist regime on the release of a large number of Palestinian resistance prisoners from prisons. It is obvious that now the new cabinet of the Zionist regime and its negotiations on the exchange of Palestinian prisoners are strongly influenced by the fragile political atmosphere inside the occupied territories and the debates of the Israeli officials.

"Since the Netanyahu's cabinet until now (Naftali Bennett), the negotiation of a prisoner exchange has always been a contentious issue between the Israeli parties, and this issue has directly extended the duration of the negotiations between Hamas and Israel, but I must say that Hamas will not wait for the Zionists to resolve their differences on this issue,” Barhoum added.

The senior Hamas official also talked about the role of Cairo in developments between the Zionist regime and the Gaza Strip, noting that"Egypt plays an important and key role in implementing and stabilizing the ceasefire agreement.” He further referred to the Egyptian authorities' efforts to improve living conditions in the Gaza Strip.
