Barhoum: Abbas' UN speech is a reproduction of wandering and failure

Hamas spokesman: PA chief Abbas' speech at the United Nations is a reproduction of disarray and failure's path.

The United Nation's annual speech of Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority, expressed a clear and explicit recognition of inability and failure to any achievement through the Oslo track, Fawzi Barhoum, spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas said in a statement.

The speech, which was based on the disastrous Oslo, was below expectations with the grave challenges of the Palestinian cause, Barhoum added.

Abbas's speech about the elections is full of lies. The PA deliberately thwarted the general elections. Now, his Authority is imposing piecemeal village elections that violate the Palestinian national consensus which calls for holding comprehensive and simultaneous general elections, the statement reads.

PA President's speech about pluralism, democracy, and respect for human rights is a falsification and a reversal of facts. The political arrests, torture, and murder of political opponents in the West Bank is evidence of the dictatorial regime that dominates our Palestinian people in the West Bank, Hamas spokesman noted.

The comprehensive war waged by the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people requires activating all forms and tools of struggle foremost the armed resistance which is guaranteed and legitimized by all international charters, he added.

“The only way to achieve Palestinian unity and reform political institutions is the consolidation of democracy through comprehensive and simultaneous general elections in the West Bank, Gaza, and Jerusalem (Al-Qods)”.

This comprehensive path requires immediate will and decisions instead of evading by giving false promises that bring more national disasters and enable the occupation to impose more facts on the ground, Barhoum said.
