Hidden aspects of failed coup in Jordan
potential role of Riyadh, Tel Aviv

Last night The Jordanian Armed Forces issued a statement, confirming the arrest of some high-ranked governmental and security officials in the country who were plotting a coup against Jordan's King Abdullah.

In a video leaked to several broadcasters, Prince Hamza bin Al-Hussein said he was visited early on Saturday by the country's military chief and told "I was not allowed to go out, to communicate with people or to meet with them".

He said his security detail was removed, and his phone and internet service had been cut.

In a statement posted by Jordan's state news agency, it was said that Sharif Hassan bin Zaid, another member of the royal family, and Bassem Ibrahim Awadallah, a former confidant of King Abdullah II, had been arrested.

Following the incident, Jordan may attempt to use the failed coup as a justification to suppress its opponents.

The Jordanian government is highly dependent on Western countries as well as the Zionist regime and Mossad. The British colonialism in Jordan has a wide array of influence in its security and decision-making spheres.

A stable Jordan is very important for the security of the Zionist regime. The growing trend of protests and oppositions against the Jordanian government’s inefficiency has worried Zionists about the potential social and political crises in Jordan, which would directly affect Israel’s security status.

Therefore, suppressing the dissident voices as a response to the failed coup can be a joint effort of the UK, the Jordanian government, and Israel.

On the other side, some media outlets reported about the possibility of the Saudi role in implementing the coup. It is argued that Riyadh is not in favor of the Jordan approach towards the recent normalization deals between Arab states and Israel, and therefore, Saudis seek to destabilize Jordan to prepare grounds to overthrown King Abdullah.

While the security apparatus in the Zionist regime is dependent on the stability of Jordan, the tension between Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and King Abdullah has been ramped up over the past weeks. This is possible that Zionist officials planned to warn Jordan about recent upheavals between the two sides to stop King Abdullah from further tensions against Israel.
