United States grossly violated Iraqi soil

Member of Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq

An Iraqi politician said that Biden’s policies have been similar to Trump’s approach so far and there is no significant shift of policies.

Qodsna (Tehran) - Speaking to Qods News Agency about the recent US airstrikes in eastern Syria, Majed Qamas, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq (ISCI) asserted that “Al Bukamal is the best region for terrorists to infiltrate; also any military attack in this region would disrupt the operations of resistance forces, which ultimately reinforces the position of Zionists.”

The United States on Thursday carried out airstrikes in eastern Syria against buildings belonging to what the Pentagon claimed were Iran-backed militias responsible for recent attacks against American and allied personnel in Iraq, according to The New York Times.

President Biden authorized the strikes in response to the rocketing in Iraq and to continuing threats to American and coalition personnel there, said John F. Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary.

“US army has invaded Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces which are national forces in Iraq, and it means that the United States has grossly violated the Iraqi soil,” he added.

The Iraqi official also rejected any claim about military coordination between Iraq’s government and Pentagon before the airstrikes.

Talking about the possible reasons for the airstrikes in eastern Syria, Majed Qamas noted that “the US plans to consolidate its position in the region. Joe Biden has made it clear that he plans to bring the US back to its position as a superpower in economy and politics.”

“The recent US military action was based on this approach,” he added.
