Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad stressed the necessity to go ahead with the endeavours to restore the Palestinian unity based on a national strategy to face off the Israeli occupation.
Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh received secretary-general of Islamic Jihad Movement Ziyad Nakhalah in the Qatari capital Doha.
The two officials discussed the developments concerning the Palestinian cause, including restoring unity of the Palestinian people by holding legislative, presidential, and National Council elections consecutively.
They also highlighted the ways to strengthen the Palestinian home front in order to handle the challenges facing the Palestinian cause, including Israeli annexation plans and normalisation.
The two parties shed special light on the issue of Jerusalem (Al-Quds) and Palestinian captives. Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s top leaders pledged to support the steadfastness of Palestinian defenders of al-Aqsa and to work on freeing the Palestinian captives held in Zionist regime’s jails.
Other regional and international developments were on the meeting’s agenda as well.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad extended their thanks and gratitude to Qatar for supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Haniyeh and Nakhalah confirmed that they both share rock-solid relations and they will continue to cooperate with each other at different levels.
