Gen. Soleimani's life
source of inspiration

Eric Walberg

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Canadian writer and journalist specializing in the Middle East affairs, Eric Walberg said: “We must keep Gen. Soleimani's memory alive and look to his life as inspiration”

Talking about the reasons for the assassination of Gen. Soleimani, Walberg noted that the US government punishes everyone who defies its policies.

“It is vital for the US to appear to fight terrorism, rather than to reveal its real objective -- to prevent any country from defying its control of the world's economy and politics. So it creates a false image of 'terrorist' defined as 'anyone who defies the US,” the Canadian writer said.

According to Walberg, “this is exactly the same as Israel forcing the world to accept its definition of 'anti-Semite' as 'anyone who defies Israel as a Jewish state.' By defining General Soleimani as a terrorist, the US can kill him as part of its fight against terrorism, just as Israel can prosecute (if Palestinian, then kill) anyone as part of its defense of Israel as Jewish state.”

He then talked about the reaction of other countries to the “criminal act” of the US government, slamming their passivity and described them as “a cabal of leaders, all of whom fear the US and cannot defy it or face economic ruin.”

“Morally, Iran has a right to redress, but there is no world court that the US acknowledges, so there is no possibility of legal redress. It is a complicated situation. Iran does not want even more pressure from the West, especially if all the rich countries support the US. I am confident that any actions by Iran will be measured. However, a return to normal economic relations with the West is of primary importance. We must keep Gen. Soleimani's memory alive and look to his life as inspiration,” he underlined.

Eric Walberg further referred to the Israeli Prime Minister, saying that “I have no doubt that Netanyahu was Trump's close confidant in this.”
