The Student Government Association (SGA) at Butler University in Indiana this week hosted two events to highlight Israeli occupation in Palestinian territories.
The Oct. 6-8 event was titled “Boycott & Safe Protesting 101.”
It was hosted by the university’s Student Government Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Board, in partnership with the school’s branch of Students for Justice in Palestine.
Activities included an exhibit featuring anti-Israel artwork and a Zoom call with American Friends Service Committee employee Dalit Baum, an activist in the anti-Israel BDS movement.
The art works illustrate the occupation of Palestine by Israeli forces and call for ending the Israeli apartheid against Palestinian people.
Butler University is the latest American college to push back against the “vicious attempt to stifle Palestinian speech” by voting to strike down resolutions which condemned the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) movement.
The Israeli occupation authorities control 36 areas in Area C of the occupied West Bank and is planning to convert them into settlements and military camps, Jordanian Assabeel newspaper reported on Sunday.
The resistance movement Hamas has reiterated that the Palestinian people have an inalienable “right” to defend their land against the Israeli occupation through all “legitimate means,” particularly “the armed struggle.”
