Hunger striking captives are in difficult and serious health conditions

Two Palestinian captives in Zionist regime’s jails, Maher al-Akhras, 49, and Abdul Rahman Shuaibat, 30, who are on hunger strike in protest against their administrative detention, are in very difficult and serious health condition, said the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).

It said Akhras, who has been on hunger strike for 45 days, was recently transferred to an Israeli hospital after a deterioration in his health, pointing out that he also refuses to take supplements. He has been in administrative detention since July.

Shuaibat, who has been on hunger strike for 21 days, yesterday escalated his strike by refusing to take water or fluids after he was recently transferred to Eshel prison, according to his family, which said that her son suffers from great difficulty in movement and speech.

Akhras, a former captive, is from Jenin and a father of six children, while Shuaibat is from Beit-ul-lahm and is also a former captive.
