The crowd chanted slogans of “death to America”, “death to Israel”, protesting the blood of the martyrs and the long-term captivity of the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaki, calling for his release from the long term captivity.

A group of Nigerian students and human rights activists also attended the gathering.

At the beginning of the gathering, Dr. Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission of London, said: "It is my pleasure to be present among you and defend the movement of Sheikh Zakzaki."

In an interview with the correspondent of the Qods News Agency, regarding Sheikh Zakzaky’s views towards the Palestinian cause Dr. Massoud Shadjareh said:  “Sheikh Zakzaky sees Palestine as a very important concept of bringing justice to people in today’s society, in this regard Sheikh Zakzaky has always stood up in support to al-Quds, as a matter of fact the al-Quds day was organized in Nigeria by the Islamic Movement  and the rally is currently the world’s second largest al-Quds rally after Iran, in 47 cities millions of people come to streets in support of al-Quds Day despite they know they will be targeted with bullets.”

He continued: “Sheikh Zakzaky’s support to al-Quds is unshakable; as a matter of fact his strong stance for the Palestinian Cause is one of the major reasons of his suffering and captivity.”
