Gaza’s fate after Abbas threats

According to the Qods News Agency (Qodsna), Mahmoud Abbas the Palestinian authority has threatened Gaza to completely cut off financial assistance, if Hamas joins a cease fire with Israel without PLA’s commission. Analysts take the move as seen in the context of the separation of Gaza from Palestine.

 

According to the report, Abbas intends to hand over all responsibilities to Hamas if the ceasefire agreement is put into effect and halts the delivery of $ 96 million per month to Gaza.

 

"We will never take on the role of a currency exchange facility in this region, and we would rather follow issues from a distance," a PA spokesman told Risht Kan in an interview.

 

He added that if Hamas has grown enough in an extent a sizeable country that can sign a large deal, then it should take responsibility for Gaza all by themselves.

 

Palestinian analyst Fathi Sabah, in this regard mentioned possible scenarios in the run-up to the meeting, especially after the recent threats by Abbas:

 

1. Submission of Hamas to the conditions set by Abbas and the pursuit of the process of national reconciliation based on the terms of the Fatah movement, which will lead to negotiations on a ceasefire to end the reconciliation talks.

 

2. Hamas might continue the peace talk’s process of pursuing the cease-fire while ignoring the threats imposed by Abbas; even some Hamas leaders believe that the implementation of the cease-fire agreement would be the gateway to the economic situation in Gaza without the participation of the PA.

 

3. Hamas's use of the military pressure option of on Israel, considering the possibility of the parties to enter a massive military confrontation, will ultimately lead to a dialogue on frozen cases in Gaza, and some of the promises in the Realizing the context of improving the economic conditions of Gaza.
