US no longer fit for ME peace process - Abbas

PA Head, Mahmoud Abbas said Washington was no longer fit for the task and urged the United Nations to take over the role.

Abbas on Wednesday declared that Palestinians will no longer accept the United States as a mediator in the peace process after US President Donald Trump recognized the occupied al-Quds ('Jerusalem') as the Capital of Israel.

Abbas, who was speaking at a meeting of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul in Turkey, urged the United Nations to take charge of the peace process as he said Washington was no longer fit for the task.

“Quds is and will forever be the Capital of the Palestinian state,” Abbas told delegates in attendance.
