Hamas' visit to Tehran removed ambiguities

The visit would turn into a major challenge for the US and Israel as they thought the national agreement would cause Hamas to be incorporated into Fatah at the cost of its ties with the regional resistance.

"The US and Zionist’s dream of Iran-Hamas separation would not come true as Hamas and Iran will keep their ties until Palestine is freed."

These are the remarks of Hamas foreign policy chief, Osama Hamdan upon his arrival in Tehran accompanied by a high ranking Hamas delegation.

The visit has become ever more significant due to the presence of Hamas deputy political bureau chief and founder of the movement's military wing, Saleh al-Aroury within the delegation.

Other members of the delegation are Ezzat Reshq, Mohammad Nasr, Zaher Jabarin, Sami abu Zuhri and Khaled Fahoum.

The visit is significant due to its timing as it takes place a week after the signing of a national reconciliation agreement between Hamas and Fatah. Some say Hamas has visited Iran in order to obtain the views of the Iranian government.

The visit would turn into a major challenge for the US and Israel as they thought the national agreement would cause Hamas to be incorporated into Fatah at the cost of its ties with the regional resistance.

The visit also took place following the call of Donald Trump's special representative in Middle East, Jason Greenbalt who urged Hamas to recognize Israel and put down arms.

Actually Hamas removed all those ambiguities and underlined that It would never cut ties with Iran nor it would put down arms.

Al-Aroury's remarks in Tehran was insightful. "We are in the stage of destroying Israel not recognizing it," he told to questions on whether Hamas would recognize Israel.
