Israel ready for construction of 11,700 settler homes

The Israeli government advanced plans for the construction of 11,700 settler homes since the start of 2017, Walid Assaf, Chairman of the Commission Against the Wall and Settlements, said Sunday.

The Israeli government advanced plans for the construction of 11,700 settler homes since the start of 2017, Walid Assaf, Chairman of the Commission Against the Wall and Settlements, said Sunday.

According to Assaf, the Israeli government approved plans for the establishment and expansion of 122 settlements over the past six years at the expense of Palestinian lands.

The official further warned of other settlement bids in the occupied old city of al-Quds ('Jerusalem') and al-Khalil.

“The Israeli government has advanced a dangerous plan to isolate al-Khalil’s Old City from its environment by granting the settlers a municipal council,” he said.

Israeli settlements across the occupied Palestinian territories are deemed illegitimate under international law.
