Fear of Hezbollah kept Israel from Arsal battle intervention
The Israeli regime set up plans to support the Jabhat Tahrir al-Sham's terrorists who fought Lebanon’s Hezbollah last month but cancelled the plan after receiving a stern warning from Hezbollah about any Israeli intervention
The Israeli regime set up plans to support the Jabhat Tahrir al-Sham's terrorists who fought Lebanon’s Hezbollah last month in the Lebanese Arsal heights following an agreement between Tel Aviv and the terrorist group, the Times of Israel website quoted an Israeli expert as saying.
The website further said that Tel Aviv's help to the terrorists was meant to come to surprise the Hezbollah forces and was motivated by the regime's desire to take revenge on the Lebanese group for the defeat of the 2006 34-Day War. However, the Israeli leaders backed down on the operation in Lebanon following Hezbollah's strong warning message, passed to Tel Aviv by German ambassador to Lebanon after a meeting with an official of Hezbollah, the Israeli website added.
During the meeting, the Hezbollah official stressed to the German diplomat that Hezbollah had intentions to fully obliterate the terrorists in Arsal and Syria’s Qalamoun mountains and that any Israeli interference will be understood as a helping hand to the terrorists who are fiercely fighting in the two areas to get foothold there.
“This will mean Israeli declaration of war against Hezbollah,” the official told the ambassador.
The official of Hezbollah, who was described to be a member of the Lebanese group’s leadership, told Germany’s HE Martin Huth that once Tel Aviv decides to intervene in favor of terrorists, Hezbollah will open all of war fronts to fight the occupying regime and will make Israeli leaders pay dearly for sabotaging of anti-terror campaign.
The Hezbollah official noted that they were taking action to cleanse the area of terrorists and that they will never hesitate in their campaign as nobody can stop their anti-terror advancing.
“We are fighting terrorism and if Israel takes any aggressive action, it should expect surprising responses from Hezbollah,” Hezbollah’s representative added.
He further said: “The Israelis saw well the results of the 2006 summer war. In summer 2017, the
equations are fundamentally different and every square kilometer of the Israeli territories is within strike range of Hezbollah rockets,” the website quoted him as saying.
It was after these warning messages, the expert told the Times of Israel, that the Israeli security cabinet unanimously decided to set aside a program to back Jabhat Tahrir al-Sham in its push against Hezbollah in Arasal, a town and mountainous area in Baalabek District.
