Israel seeking to turn gates removal into opportunity

Israeli removal of security gates is said to be adopted as part of an agreement between Israel and the Jordanian government following a talk between Benjamin Netanyahu and King Abdullah.

The Zionist regime finally removed a number of security gates installed at the entries to the al-Aqsa mosque. The Israeli move is said to be adopted as part of an agreement between Israel and the Jordanian government following a talk between Benjamin Netanyahu and King Abdullah.

Reports say the two sides agreed that Israel removes the gates and in exchange, Jordan would not prosecute an Israeli embassy guard who killed two Jordanian protesters two days earlier.

No doubt, the Israeli move to install the security gates was illegal as the mosque is an Islamic and Arabic area under all international conventions.

Israel was forced to adopt the measure facing stiff protests from the Muslim community. Israel feared the protests may expand with former Israeli foreign minister, Tzipi Livni warning of the possible engagement of the entire Muslim community against the regime.

Israel resorted to Jordan for rescue from the self-made mire; and, again an Arab state rescued it.

The announcement of the agreement however is somewhat dangerous as Israel suggests it no longer considers the Palestinian side as a party to the conflict and seeks to resolve its problems through Arab governments. The conspiracy seeks double vigilance on the part of the Palestinians.

The Israeli retreat is an achievement for the Palestinians however they should not relinqui8sh their protests as Israel will continue to conspire against the mosque.
