Director of al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar al-Kiswani said the Palestinian source of jurisprudence has rejected any change to the status of the al-Aqsa mosque and will keep the position.

The Palestinian religious authority told the Qods Nwes Agency (Qodsna) that the source of jurisprudence has stated its position in a statement and will hold fast to the position.

“We would not accept any transgression of Islamic works in the al-Aqsa Mosque,” he said.

Israel’s recent restrictions on the entry of Muslims to the Aqsa Mosque have sparked angry protests in the occupied Palestinian territories and prompted Palestinian young men to clash with Israeli forces and rise up in defense of their Islamic holy site, according to PIC.

The latest reaction was a stabbing attack carried out on Friday evening by a Palestinian young man in the illegal settlement of Halamish, north of Ramallah. Three Jewish settlers from the same family died in the attack.
