A press conference was held in Tehran on the “International day of Quds and the new regional equations” with representatives of two Palestinian resistance movements in attendance, according to the Qods News Agency (Qodsna).

Starting the session, deputy Qodsna managing director, Mehdi Azizi briefed the participants on the regional developments, saying the emergence of the regional anti-Israeli resistance movements was a fruit of the international occasion.

Next, Hamas representative, Khaled Qaddoumi expressed condolences to the surviving families of Tehran’s terror attack and said the region witnessed tragic developments in the recent weeks, namely the visit of the US President Donald Trump to Saudi Arabia and his remarks against the Palestinian resistance.

Qaddoumi said Palestinians were not surprised by Trump’s remarks and considered them to be in line with the old US policies in support of the Zionist Israel.

“What surprised Palestinians was that Saudi authorities clapped to express their approval to his accusations against the noblest modern time resistance that is the Palestinian resistance,” Qaddoumi noted.

“Trump has no right to speak about human rights because he leads support to the Zionist regime’s terrorism in the region,” he said.

Then, representative of the Islamic Jihad movement in Tehran, Naser Abu Sharif said certain states in the region have changed their approach toward the Palestinian issue “to the extent that those who always tended to reject US ‘peace’ offers are now approving every western project.”

“Those who have relinquished Palestine are facing a major deviation in politics and religion,” he said, invoking a verse of the holy Koran that urges Muslims to beware against friendship with sedition-making Jews.

Abu Sharif believed that the formation of an Arab NATO as proposed by the US and approved by Saudi was aimed at removing the Palestinian issue.

Also, Iranian expert in regional affairs, Hossein Rouyvaran says the US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi gave rise to several political processes in the region, adding Arab states are recognizing Israel as their ally under the US pressure.

The SDPN deputy of political and international affairs touched on Trump’s labeling of the Palestinian resistance as terrorist and called it an impudent move.

Rouyvaran said three wars on Gaza showed the true nature of the Muslim community, adding the international day of Quds could provide a remedy for the Muslim pains.

“Imam Khomeini designated the international occasion as a unifying day in defense of the Palestinian cause,” he said, adding Palestine lies in the heart of the Muslim community.
