Hamas would not run
track of Fatah

Naser Abu Sharif

Representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Naser Abu Sharif says Hamas’ new charter is an acceptable and good one expect for its clause 22 that approves the establishment of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.

Abu Sharif told the Qods News Agency (Qodsna) that the Hamas charter was not compatible with the current status of the movement and needed review.

“Hamas turned into a part of the Palestinian Authority; it has been actually implementing the current charter since many years ago,” he said.

The Palestinian representative rejected the idea that Hamas had backtracked on its traditional position on the anti-Israeli resistance.

Abu Sharif was asked whether the Islamic Jihad may follow the path of Hamas one day. He was negative.

“Islamic Jihad runs against any initiative that fails to satisfy the motto of liberation of Palestine from the River to the Sea,” he said, alluding to the original, historical Palestine.

Abu Sharif added that Israel would not accept the Hamas charter as it has no newer thing than a 2005 Arab peace plan. He said Hamas actually seeks a justifiable image in the political scene by the chatter.

The Palestinian representative said the Islamic Jihad had pinned hope in the Divine promise that the oppressors would finally fail, adding the promise would also apply to Israel.
