Doha worried about
Saddam's re-emergence

Mehdi Shakibayi

A senior anti-Israeli activist in Iran says Qatar’s move to recal its ambassadors from Saudi Arabia following the latter’s colossal arms deal with the US was motivated by the fear that the deal would lead to the emergence of another Saddam Hussein in the region.

Managing Director of the Qods News Agency, Mehdi Shakibayi made the remarks on Wednesday in an interview the Fars News Agency.

Shakibayi touched on Qatar’s removal of the report from its official facebook page, adding the move was not a mere media gaffe rather it was a clear message to the Saudi and US officials.

The Qodsna managing director said Qatar has no god memory of dictators like Saddan, adding like Saudi, Saddam was armed by the west in a bid to isolate Iran however the arming led otherwise to the occupation of Kuwait and remained as a threat to other regional Arab states.

Shakibayi also noted that Qatar was angry about the mentioning by the US President Donald Trump in Riyadh of its ally Hamas as a terrorist entity.

Qatar is known as a financial backer f the Muslim Brotherhood and thus considers the designation as a declaration of war.
