Secret aspects of dismissal of Turkey's Justice and Development party

Qods news agency- Ahmad Reza Ruhallah Zad

Constitutional Court of Turkey affirmed in a verdict the demand of Turkey's Attorney General, Abdulrahman Belchin Kiya about halting the activity of justice and development party for alleged anti-secular operation and its efforts for establishing a religious government in Turkey.

This ruling signed by all eleven judges emphasized on the suspension of the party and some leaders including the current Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Seven of eleven judges ruled on halting activities of President Abdullah Gol.

It seems that the whole incident was brewed after the headscarf ban was lifted in universities after a bill was passed in the parliament on February 2008 where Turkey's justice and development party has occupied 230 seats from 550 in parliament.  It seems that the most important pretext in the hand of the attorney General was the approval.

Several experts describe the latest developments in Turkey as a contest between two ideological groups. One group is the intellectual party of secularism led by Kamal Ata Turk and now has empire on court and army of Turkey. Another group is Islamist party which has popularity and majority in parliament.

Based on law, judges of Constitutional Court are appointed by president with the current President, Ahmad Najdat Cezer belonging to secular thinkers.

European Union however was against the ruling and described the dismissal ruling as against democracy. Europe also described Turkey's Constitutional Court authority as weakness of its Constitution and an obstacle in the way of the country to join EU.

Some Analysts believe that the role of regional and international players should not be ignored in development of Turkey. The fact of the matter is that despite the secular government's efforts to interiorize secularism culture, the Muslims people of Turkey didn’t show any interests but move towards Islamic trends.

The inclination of Turkish people toward Islamic trends in local councils and parliament elections in recent years proves that the political future of Turkey belongs to Islamists, something mostly feared by Israel and America.

However, Erdogan's government, since taking power, has rushed to foster ties with Zionist regime to have it support the country to join EU much to the disappointment of the country's Muslim population and the government itself as Israel never took any practical action in this regard. EU too is not interested to see Turkey a member of the union for such reasons as its increasing Muslim population and the unjustified history of Imperial Ottoman Empire in Europe.

The ruling Turkish party was much more popular before it took measures to boost ties with Zionist regime as a push for EU membership and with its shrinking popularity, the move of the Turkish Judiciary against the party was almost predictable.
