ISESCO registers Holy Quds city in world heritage list


The Islamic States' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) awarded the Palestinian Holy Quds City the world heritage certificate in a meeting attended by representatives of the world continents from Iran, Nigeria, Senegal, Morocco and Egypt. 

Speaking to FNA on Monday, Director General of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) office for Registration, Preservation and Restoration of Intangible Cultural and Natural Heritage Atousa Momeni said the third meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee studied several cases pertaining to the registration of Muslim sites and registered the Holy Quds in Palestine (as a cultural heritage) with a majority vote of participants in the meeting.
 
She further added that the meeting focused on the cases of Islamic countries in a move to collect a inclusive list of ancient historical and cultural sites and monuments of these countries to preserve them as UNESCO can register only a limited number of ancient works.
 
The Islamic States' Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), an affiliate of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) had selected and introduced Tashkent as the cultural capital of the world of Islam in 2007.
