Raed: Al-Qods city more threatened than ever

Head of the Islamic Movement in 1948 Palestine warned on Sunday about threats facing the holy Qods.

According to Al-Jazeera TV network, Sheikh Raed Salah said the Israeli officials are set to demolish 1700 homes in 2009 in east of Qods to build new Zionist settlements.

"It would be the worst destructive move of the Zionist regime in the holy Qods following its occupation in 1967," he added.

Tens of hectares of grounds in the east of Qods would be seized for expansion of the Zionist settlements, Salah said, adding that the move would divide the city and separate it from the West Bank.

The holy city of Qods was on the verge of a dangerous stage, Al-Jazeera reported, adding some districts of the city would be demolished or seized completely.

The measure would make thousands of Palestinians residing in the holy Qods homeless, the report said.
