Damascus conference was meaningful

As the Zionist regime was pressing with its criminal acts in the Gaza strip, the Palestinian movements held a meeting in Damascus Thursday along with other pro-Palestinian entities in the world.

Palestinian leaders opposed to peace talks with Israel opened the conference in Damascus on Wednesday, stressing that the Palestinian Authority chief should not compromise on Palestinians' national rights.

The conference also urged Palestinian peace negotiators not to yield to Israeli pressure to compromise on the fate of al-Quds and on the right of return for Palestinian refugees displaced in the 1948 war.

The conference could be contrasted with the Annapolis meeting and its sequel, the Paris meeting. It demonstrated the Palestinian demands from the Arabs and the world community.

The meeting counterattacked the Annapolis and Paris meetings by showcasing the real Palestinian demands.

The conference absorbed attention of the world and with Syria as the host and sponsor the conference would help prove that despite the claims of the West and the Zionists, Damascus has not been isolated.

The conference also found some reflections among the world public opinion as public protests against the Gaza situation grew following the Damascus meeting.

The Damascus meeting proved that the Palestinian nation never thinks about compromise and is firm to continue resistance until it forms an independent Palestinian state with Qods as its capital.

The conference also dealt the Zionist regime a blow as they were trying to abuse their killings in Gaza as a tool to make the Palestinians to bow to their assertions and demands.
