Sunday marks 2nd anniversary of Israel's defeat against Hezbollah

Qodsna; Sirus Shirzad: July 12, 2008 marks the second anniversary of Zionist regime's defeat against Hezbollah in summer 2006

During the 33-day war, the strategic depth of the Zionist regime came under pounding with thousands rockets fired by the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement Hezbollah, bringing the Zionist regime its heaviest defeat in history.

The outcomes of the defeat however are still going on, prompting several war officials to step down, specially the then Israeli army chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz and then war minister Amir Peretz.

Two other Israeli officers GOC Northern Command Udi Adam and Division 91 Commander Gal Hirsch resigned following their senior commanders.

Hezbollah’s brave resistance pushed discord through Zionist regime's prime minister Ehud Olmert's cabinet.

The ensuing report of Winograd committee (Israeli committee to investigate the cause of failure in the summer war) dealt another blow to the regime's army's image. It criticized "serious failings and flaws'' in Israel's handling of the war.

According to the report, Israel's decision makers followed Halutz blindly because they did not have the leadership capabilities to guide his actions. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert too was blamed for his failures and many Israelis demanded him to resign immediately .An Israeli commission subsequently criticized the Israeli premier Ehud Olmert and his government for their handling of the war.

Now, two years after the war which Israel claimed has launched to release its seized troops, the regime has agrred a deal to swap prisoners with Hezbollah. The exchanges are set to take place Wednesday or Thursday.

Following the war, Hezbollah were lauded in the Arab World as the only capable Arab force to defeat Israel on the battlefield in six decades.

The current Israeli war minister Ehud Barak has said the Zionist regime needed experienced leaders to guide it through times of crisis.
