Farewell to illusion of peace

Editor in chief of the London-based al-Qods al-Arabi daily said the results of the Israeli elections in which the Kadima party got victory bodes ill for 'illusion of peace' in the occupied lands.

Abd al-Bari Atwan in an editorial titled 'a farewell to illusion of peace' wrote that it was very likely that a coalition government would be formed in Israel which points to internal weakness of the Zionist regime to find escape from their crises.

He noted that the contest was between 'two Likud parties' as Kadima was an offshoot of the former, adding that any Israeli government comes to office would set up hurdes to peace and would monger newer wars against Lebanon and Gaza.

Atwan touched on the regime's crimes in Gaza, adding that the Islamic and Arab Ummah must note that the blood of Gaza children was fresh and that the peace process has yet to make headway even an inch.
