Israel, prey of Hezbollah having sustained three defeats within eight years

Jahan Mostafa (Mohit):
Indeed no entity in the Arab world has ever could bring Israel to knee as the Lebanese Hezbollah could. Hezbollah scored three victories against the regime within eight years.

In May 25, the Lebanese people along side many other Arab and Islamic people celebrated restoration of Arab grandeur after years of humiliation by the powerful hand of Hezbollah. Eight years ago, the scions of Lebanese resistance crushed what was touted as the most powerful army in world and forced it out of the southern Lebanon without giving any concession. Lebanon was free after enduring two decades of occupation.

Hezbollah scored the second victory nearly two years ago which was by no means less important than the first one. In 2006, Hezbollah could target the strategic depth of the Zionist regime against the odds in the history of Arab-Israeli military conflicts.

During the 33-day war, Israel sustained colossal damages without reaching any of its announced goals of the war: Removal of Hezbollah and freedom of its two soldiers.

117 Israeli soldiers and 39 settlers were killed in the war and over 5000 Israelis were injured. According to reports, 3970 missiles fired by Hezbollah hit their targets inside southern and central areas occupied by Israel since 1948.

The regime also lost 123 Merkawa tanks, four spy drones, three Apache helicopters, two F16 fighters, and a supermodern warship, said to be one of a three-strong collection in the regime's arsenal.

It is estimated that the regime incurred a loss of over 25 billion shekels. The regime acknowledged defeat.

The recent developments in Beirut must be considered as the third victory for Hezbollah. According to Robert Fisk, the renowned British author, before a deal is reached between the Lebanese rivals in Doha, Israelis were intended to stage an anti-Hezbollah operation in central Beirut which ended up in failure "for not yet known reasons." However, the reasons soon were unveiled by Walid Junbalat who admitted that the Hezbollah communication network throughout Beirut could track the regime's movement and thwarted its project.

Many believe that Lebanon is in dire need of weapon of resistance at least until the Shebaa farms are freed. As long as the country's airspace is violated the weapons of resistance is essential. As long as the Lebanese captives are behind Israeli bars, the weapon must remain in place.
