Resistance under pressure of superpowers

An expert in Middle East affairs believes that the aim of the two so-called peace conferences in Annapolis of America and Paris of France was to restrict the regional chain of resistance.

Interviewed by Qodsna, Mohammad Ali Mohtadi believed that the escalation of Zionist regime regime's attacks on the Gaza Strip was predictable since long ago.

"One of the most important goals of the Annapolis meeting was to besiege the chain of resistance in Palestine, Lebanon and other countries including the IR of Iran, the Syrian Arab Republic that support regional resistance movements," Mohtadi said.

"However, America and Zionist regime know that the goal is not an easy one to be achieved," the political expert added.

"It was predicted from the regime's war minister's adamancy to invade the Gaza Strip.  However, after the outcomes were considered, they found the regime may have many casualties so they decided to launch a war of attrition against resistance, the expert suggested.

"Destruction of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, reduction of the Palestinian capability in support of resistance and bolstering of Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) are among the aims of the current Israeli attacks on Gaza," Mohtadi noted.

"Bush administration found that in light of its defeat in Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq it can not achieve its goals in the region so it drew a new plan, namely a truce strategy or crisis management," he added.

"Promotion of Hamas authority and the improvement of Palestinian rockets increased horrors among Israeli troops," he noted.
