Annapolis confab will bear no gain for Palestinians - Deputy IRI Speaker

Mohammad Hassan Abutorabi who directs the executive council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) told Qodsna that the Annapolis meeting would fetch no gain for the Palestinian people.

He was speaking to Qodsna on the sidelines of the second general assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) Tuesday.

"Following 1948 when the illegitimate Zionist regime was created, conferences or meetings were held to preserve and boost the Israeli entity, bearing however no favorable result," he said.

He argued that those conferences have failed because their organizers had treated them by a one-sided agenda, exclusively considering the grandeur of the Zionist regime and failing to tackle an otherwise question.

"Israel refuses to put the lands it has occupied to the slightest discussion," Abutorabi said as among others a source of failure of those conferences, adding that the regime rebuffs any initiative to tackle the issue of water which is currently the bone of contention between the regime on the one hand and Syria and Lebanon on the other hand.

Asked how the second APA assembly could prove significant for the Palestinian issue, the deputy said that the unified APA had top on agenda to address the Palestinian issue and tackle the woes and suffering of the Palestinian people.

He expressed hope the second meeting of the Assembly could give further momentum to the case.
