Mideast region goes towards 3rd Initfada - Editor

Editor of Palestine Daily in Gaza, Mostafa Al Savaf told Qodsna that the Palestinian issue is not a regular political question because if it was it had been resolved many years ago.

The Palestinian issue is a complicated issue, the editor said.

Concerning a US sponsored meeting to discuss the Palestinian issue, the editor said "the confab could not be accreditted as international, arguing that an international conference must be held under UN supervision and following the demands of several member countries in the United Nations.

"The meeting would face defeat even though it may reach some deals," the editor said, noting that the expectations regarding the meeting shrinked following the repeated tours of Middle East by the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice.

There are many ambiguities in the meeting because there is no guarantee that it considers fundamental Palestinian concerns including the refugees' right of return, Al Savaf said.

"US doesn't seek to solve Palestinian issue," the editor said adding that Bush wants to gather all parties in his presidential goodbye party and provide the ground for its invasion of Syria, Iran, as well as resiatance movements in Palestine and Lebanon.

"Any agreement that fails to restore the Palestinian rights will be defeated," he said, adding that the Middle East is moving towards a 3rd Initfada that does not confine to the Palestinian territories.

"The 3rd Intifada would cause a strategic change in the region in favor of the Palestinian nation," he added.
